1950s Swedish olive leaf ring in 18kt rose gold. A 5mm wide band featuring a chaised and engraved repeating olive branch and olive leaf motif around the full circumference of the ring. Hallmarked 18kt gold, Swedish, 1959.
The olive leaf and branch have long been associated with many symbolic meanings. For the ancient Greeks, olive leaves were closely related to victory as the olympic champions were crowned with an olive branch wreath. Bibical stories represent the olive branch as a symbol of hope and renewal. Whilst the actual olive tree is celebrated for it's longevity and endurance.
