The Miraculous Medal is a devotional medal in the Catholic faith, traditionally worn as a symbol of protection and grace. First designed in 1830 following visions of the Virgin Mary by Saint Catherine Labouré in Paris, the medal features the Blessed Mother standing on a globe, crushing a serpent underfoot, with rays of light emanating from her hands—representing the graces she bestows upon those who seek her intercession. The reverse side displays an “M” intertwined with a cross, beneath which are the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, encircled by twelve stars.
